Information on the poet's life can be very useful and should help you to gain insight into her work. However, don't dwell too much on the poet's life as your task is to deal with the poetry, not the autobiography. You may have seen Sylvia, a recent film on Plath's life and her relationship with Ted Hughes. Remember that the film is only an interpretation of events. Do not refer to it in your answer. If you have enjoyed reading Plath, you should look out for Birthday Letters, a collection of poetry by Ted Hughes, in which he deals with his relationship with Plath.
